What is the International Basket Brigade?

Join Tony Robbins and his philanthropic foundation to feed families in need

Bask in the Joy of Giving!

The International Basket Brigade is a 100% volunteer-run program dedicated to feeding those in need. It’s built on a simple notion: one small act of generosity on the part of one caring person can transform the lives of hundreds. What began as Tony’s individual effort to feed families in need has now grown into a hunger relief, international movement through The Tony Robbins Foundation. Since its start, millions of baskets of food and household items have been delivered around the world to those who need it most.

How does it work? Here’s how you can get involved.

1. JOIN OR START A BRIGADE

Generally, there are one or two people who will coordinate a volunteer Basket Brigade in their community. They are responsible for creating and maintaining communication among local Brigaders.

There are many different brigade styles; from one coordinator and one basket given to someone in need, to a large group effort with fundraising and public relations capabilities delivering several hundred baskets. No matter the scale, the focus is the same: Give from your heart and cherish every moment!

2. LOCATE FAMILIES & CREATE BASKETS

The International Basket Brigade is about the joy of giving. The people best to target are those who may not take advantage of the food distribution programs available to them in their area.

It’s recommended to identify your recipients at least a month prior to your designated Basket Brigade date. Volunteers assigned this task can work with an organization to get specifics on families, such as the number of children, ages, health restrictions, etc. The more questions asked, the better the basket!

When creating baskets make sure to include delicious foods and practical items. Don’t forget to decorate! Baskets should convey that it is a gift, not a handout; a present, not charity.

3. DELIVER BASKETS & CELEBRATE

Enjoyment and gratitude are a large part of Basket Brigade and safety is, too. Be gentle in your presence and safe in your journey. After the baskets have been delivered, volunteers should celebrate the team and share the joy of giving to others.

Make sure you put as much energy into your post-delivery celebration as you did your baskets. Anchor the experience of doing something truly extraordinary. You deserve it! It can be as simple as a potluck gathering to create the opportunity for sharing and reflection.

The Tony Robbins Foundation would be honored to have you become a registered volunteer coordinator and create your own wonderful event. Become part of this international movement today by creating a Brigade or joining one already taking place in your community. Make sure to share your preparation and journey using #BasketBrigade and join the Basket Brigade Facebook Community.
